You use it but, do you know where it comes from?

Hello people!!

This morning I was looking for information about Hayes modems, and comunication through serial port. The internet is full of information about this stuff and this fact made me think about one importan point: there is a lot of people, including me, thas uses many things and never wonder where, when, or why did all begin.

We use internet everyday. Instant messaging, e-mail, the web, all this services rely on modems. Today modems are very different of those ancient Hayes modems, but in essence they do the same function, they translate information from, lets say computer languaje, to a languaje understandable to comunication infrastructures. Don´t forget that if you can use common comunication infrastructures, you have a huge net available for cumputer comunications.

So here you will find some keywords you can search in any search engine (I would recommend Google , but is good for the internet freedom and health to try to use others), and some direct links:

Keywords: modem, hayes, at, dtr, rts, cd ,dcd

Historia y composición del Módem - ilustrados.com (spanish)
Inventor Dennis C. Hayes (spanish)
PC modem History - Invention of the PC modem (english)

Enjoy!!!

Every effort deserves a prize

Hy people!!!

This week is being like a marathon, the end seems unachievable, but now is thursday and I´ve achieved some major goals. I was preparing a presentation for a Databases Course during all last week, I´ve spent a lot of time reading documentation and thinking out the presentation eventually I made the presentation yesterday and it was a real success, excellent, as the teacher said. I´m very happy about that.

The weather is extremely hot here in the Canary Islands (Gran Canaria), today we are about 32ºC. This is nice, as we have a lot of beaches here, jeje.

Take care of yourselves.

Learning is great

Hy lads!!!!

This evening I was writing an email and suddenly i had the need to consult an irregular english verb. Fast i went to God Google and asked for "irregular english verbs". I found this good list. I was giving a look at other web pages containing irregular verbs and I dicovered this excellent english grama compilation. In this last link you can find grama explanations and exercises of the fill in the gap kind.

I´ve read carefully conditionals explanation and i´ve found it very usefull. Specially the future conditional with whith I´ve always had a lot of problems because is absolutly different from the spanish future conditional.

I hope you find this stuff usefull.

Greetings.

Travelling to nowhere

Good Morning!!!

I´m thinking, dangerous thing, about my life. I want to change everything around me. I´m a Computer Science Technical Engineer, is this enough to find a job outside Spain. I´m anxious, i don´t know if I want to wait two years to get my Bachelor, or go away right now.

Any ideas?

Some days are bigger than others. (My tribute to The Smiths)

Hy lads!!

I´m really tired today. Take to boats, drive through 5 hours, work a little, and the result wil be: you will be tired, like me now.

There is nothing really new today in my life, but i want to upload a couple of photos, so there we go:

This is the van i use for work. Inside it there are telecomunications equipment and a satellite dish, taken to pieces. You may wonder, why the hell is the van being lifted? The answer is easy. We were travelling to a very small island. Is such small that there is no boat to transport vehicles, so we used a fishing boat to transport the van. In the origin docks, where this photo was taken, we lifted the van with a crane, and put it into the fishing boat, in La Gomera we did the opposite. It was fun, by i was terribly afraid. Imagine, no van, no work.

Tomorrow more.

Memories

Why not? I´ve always liked photos, and now i have lots from Ireland, so, why not to upload some of them? Let´s go:

These are my classmates and Dennis, the teacher. Cossima, Jasmin, MariaRosa, Berna, Mateus, Dennis, Ilde (ulde), Kaspar, Irene, Anika and.... ups i can´t remember her name, i´m very sorry about it unnamed. Anika was also my homemate. they are all nice people, i had a lot of good times with them. Now i´m going to show you my face too:

I like Guinness, almost every evening we went out to the pubs and drank a couple of Guinnes while chatting. This photo was taken in the Quay´s Restaurant, upstairs the Quay´s pub, one relaxed Sunday evening.

I think this is enough for today.

Good bye.

Training Day

My god:

Never coming back to reallity was so hard. I´ve spent 8 hours at university, most of them in a queue waiting to pay courses fee, my car has broken down, so now i must beg my colleagues to take me home, after a month of beer life the trainer (today running) nearly kills me. Miserable life.

I love triathlon but sometimes I wiss I had never started training. No problem, i supose in one week time I´ll get back in shape, i hope.

Today i´ve had the first lesson of the year. The course is called Computer Signal Processing. It includes studing deeply discreete signals, Fourier Transforms, Filters ....... and many more things that I´ll be discovering the next 6 months.

Only two years more and I will be flying away out of Spain. I´m looking forward it. I constantly have in my mind the idea that the harder I study and work the closer this moment is. Actually this month out of spain was exactly the motivation i needed to really decide living out of my country. People often say the more you know of other places the more you value your home, but i think this is not always true. Look at me, i´ve dicovered a lot of diferent and better things, it doesn´t mean I don´t like where a live, only that I think that there are better places, i don´t think there is a best place.

Friendly kisses.

Actualy i don´t have de mood for writting, so I will better stop. I hope in next days i will be more and more used to this, actualy is my home.

My bests thoughts to Celine, Mariko, Diana, Rita, Claudia, Ilde (Ulde :)), Berna, Aintxane, ........... because of you my holydays have been unforgettable.
